RandK is offering new line of plaster finishes.

RandK Pool Service renovation department has added a new Quartz & Pebble plaster product line.  Wet Edge Technologies  is the next generation of pool plaster finishes that manufactures quartz and pebble finishes that include seven product lines offering over 80 color combinations. With a standard residential warranty of 10-15 yrs depending on the product line, Wet Edge has surpassed its plaster & pebble competition with their philosophy of growth, improvement, quality and integrity by using the best in materials and uses of German engineered bonding polymers. They manufacture and mine their product in Arizona, Mississippi, New Zealand, Mexico, South America and Asia.  Our plaster applicator became certified by Wet Edge Technologies in an effort to offer the best our industry has to offer.  They had short comings they were not happy with in the past and found Wet Edge to be far superior and eliminated the failures other products were experiencing.  Wet Edge’s website provides a great resource to help the pool owner pick out colors and options for their new finish and stream lined the registration of their warranty online making it easier to register their new finish.  Just visit them on www.wetedgetechnologies.com

Valve Maintenance

Multiport_valve We had a surprise today with one of our commercial accounts. They called and the pool was down overnight 1 foot. Ouch! Turns out one of the sand filter’s multi port valve was leaking.

Here’s note if you own a filter with a multi port valve. Many of them have a pin that go through the handle that attaches it to the diverter stem. Those pins should be firmly inserted into the handle flush. Sometimes they like to work loose and if it comes out enough, will cause the valve diverter not to seat properly and it will leak out the backwash line. Another hint with multi port valves, the stem o-ring, as it ages, gets dry and sticky and can also cause the diverter not to sit down on the gasket inside the valve and cause it to leak out the backwash line. A simple tech fix for this is get some silicone spray lubricate and give it a good shot right at the stem of the valve.

Now its very important that you use silicone lubricant and not oil or WD40. Petroleum products will cause o-ring damage and break them down. Not a good thing. Once you give a good shot of silicon just under the hand where I’ve shown in the picture above, work the handle around a bit to work the silicone into the o-ring. You’ll find the valve is easier to operate and in many cases stop those annoying drips and leaks out the backwash line.

EcoFinish Design Stencils

EcoFinish StencilWe now have some new options we can do with EcoFinish. EcoFinish is the wave of the future for pool resurfacing as it is a plastic powder coating for swimming pool and spas alike.  EcoFinish now has available custom stenciling. Originally developed to give us the option to put depth markers and no dive symbols on commercial pools, we are now able to make almost any kind of graphic, font, etc. and spray that into the finish with different colors making it part of the finish itself.  For instance, at the end of the month, we have a customer that wants his logo of his cottages in Sarasota, FL put on the bottom of the pool as an accent point of the pool.  We will be spraying his logo on with a two color stencil process which is going to be a great look for his business.

EcoFinish DesignThe nice thing about these stencils, if the company, for whatever reason, no longer wants the logo there, or lets say changes their name and logo, we can easily spray over the logo with the base color of the pool, covering up the logo, and leave it blank, or spray a new name or logo to replace it.  If you can think it up on the computer, chances are, we can turn it into stencil and spray it into the pool’s finish.  A great added feature we can give to our customers.  We invite you to keep an eye out for this example either on our facebook page, or website, rkpoolservice.com .  Thanks for your time!
